Haha so anyway today BUDDY threw a picnic-ish potluck for the refugee kids, I don't remember if I've ever posted pictures of them but we've been there a couple of times to bring them food and spend a little time with the children. In a period of 2 hours, I took a total of 607 photos, and of those 600+ photos, only 50+ were BUDDY worthy, mainly because I was focusing on getting good photos for my photojournalism assignment which is due on Friday! Here are some of them, no pictures of me because I was photographer of the day T_T
Waiting for other BUDDY people to turn up..
This is the 'centre' the 40 kids study and eat in.. We met them upstairs and later brought them down to walk to the park nearby :)
They were excited because we haven't visited them in 2 weeks.
Hahaha a little too excited if you get what I mean. They were climbing all over the boys, look how happy Chong Lim is!
And Chris too! :DD
Awwww :D
We taught them how to play 'eagle catch little chicks'?! Haha we didn't know how to translate it any other way :pOh and London Bridge, which they particularly liked :)
Then it was time for brunch and it's so unusual that after the kids've been starved in their own country and only having basic food to get by here, they still don't crowd around the table and mount their plates. In fact, they're shy and only take what they're offered, or ask if they want more, and even then they'd wait for us to hand them the food, eventhough we told them they could have whatever they wanted.I'm super addicted to taking pictures of the kids laughing, there's something so carefree that I don't think I've ever captured anywhere else!
Probably my favourite picture all day, the boy is soooo adorable I just wanted to bundle him up, stuff him in my bag and take him home!! :D However it's the one next to him (on the left) that I'm super attached to! I practically stalked him, taking endless photos because he's so photogenic! Omg so cute he kept holding my hand and making me stop while he checked for cars when crossing roads and only letting me pass when he thinks it's safe enough AWWWW!
WTF!!! I JUST WENT THROUGH 600 PICTURES AND SELECTED THOSE TO POST, WAITED FOR THEM TO UPLOAD FOR LIKE 20 FREAKIN MINUTES AND THEN SUDDENLY..

FML!!!
Okay nevermind, it's already 4am and I shouldn't get pissed at this hour. Like I was saying, the kids are so grateful and chirpy that you can't help but melt whenever they run into you and give you big, big hugs. The condition they live in is insane! They can't be seen in public places because if they're caught by the police, they'd be sent back to their country. They eat plain porridge on good days, otherwise they don't eat at all. And because they can't afford to buy milk for their own nutrition, the centre gives each child one tablespoon of powdered milk to take home so they can drink it the next morning. Every time we go back to see them, we bring bags of basic necessities like rice, cooking oil, books and toys, and yet every time we leave I feel like we could've done better. I blame their innocent happiness, it brings you joy yet breaks your heart.
THEM STUPID KIDS! MAKING ME SO CHEESY AND EMOTIONAL! Anyway I told Trace and Chong Yan and they're coming along the next time we visit! I've also promised the little one that I'll bring him sweets and a ball to play with when I see him so hopefully it'll be soon!
Kay off to bed now, I'll probably update tomorrow after Syaf sends me all the photos from kl! :D bye!
